I am so excited to finally blog and share this fabulous wedding. It was a rainy day for a Kansas City Wedding but that didn’t stop Kimberly and Matt from having a great time and a beautiful wedding. These two are such an amazing couple and are just so sweet. I absolutely loved photographing them and they were just so great and natural in front of the camera. Thank You Kimberly and Matt for having us be a part of your day. Enjoy your photos.
ABOUT THE COUPLE
TELL US ABOUT HOW YOU MET?
Matt and I worked out at the same gym close to the house I lived in. Matt is such a gentleman, so it's no surprise that he had a hard time striking up a conversation in a gym. After a few missed opportunities to introduce himself, he ended up getting a new job and therefore switching gyms. At that very same time, we happened to connect thanks to online dating. It wasn't until after our first date that we both put it together-it was the person from the gym! Matt picked me up for a second date and as we drove by the gym it all clicked. I guess we both look a little different on a first date than we do at the gym!
TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL?
From early on in our relationship, we enjoyed going to Liberty Memorial to catch the city views, people watch, or really just walk around. The day Matt proposed was filled with fun things that we both love to do! He made everything about the entire day so special. We started with brunch at our favorite breakfast restaurant, Room 39. Then we spent the day at Shawnee Mission Lake canoeing and soaking up some sun. I had always wanted to eat at The Rieger but hadn't had the chance, so Matt took me to dinner there. From my seat at dinner, I could catch the reflection of a sunset on the building across the street. (We both LOVE a good sunset!) Unbeknownst to me, Matt had plans for this particular sunset so he promptly got the bill and hustled us out! We hurried over to Liberty Memorial just in time to watch the last part of the sunset. Matt got down on one knee, and you know the ending... :)
ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Don't stress over the little stuff. We decided to eliminate certain traditional things that just didn't matter to us, such as programs and a bouquet toss. Is there something you don't think is necessary? Then skip it! We tried not to get too wrapped up in what a wedding should be and instead just designed it to be what we wanted. In cutting some things out, we were able to better manage time and found that the few days before our wedding weren't full of chaos. We wanted to minimize stress and maximize time spent with all our guests in town, and keeping things simple worked for us!
